2019 TACTILE tIME
Tactile Time is a 3D drawing intervention that speaks about materialized time. Time, as a marker of our humanity, interests me and inspired this body of work.
I see time as a pilgrimage. Like a sojourner traveling from relic to relic, recording experiences, feelings, images, even snippets of conversations. I collect distinguished moments and objects that bear witness to my joys, fears, and the hybrid moments in between.
In my studio practice I am actively searching for new materials and forms of expression, inherited from Modernism. The installation, created as a response to the Exit Gallery space at Montana State University, enabled me to illustrate a concrete vision of the abstract illusion that time represents. Here, time is presented as a memory trace or a horizon line. I chose wood as a metaphor for the malleability of time.
